Hello and welcome! As an interior designer, stylist, editor, problem solver, mom and all around busy bee, many of my clients have asked me to share my tips, favorite products and inspiration. Join me as I share all the things that make my heart sing in my dear old little design diary.

Here's the lowdown on how I've gotten to the place where I'm ready to keep a diary about my adventures. After a bunch of internships at NYC interior design offices, my real adult life began as a style assistant at House Beautiful magazine. I learned the ropes of the shelter magazine world and obsessed over every home product known to man. My lifelong obsession with all things home multiplied and shifted as I worked worked my way up in the world of glossies.

As an assistant home editor at Real Simple, a Style Editor at O at Home (Oprah's now defunct home magazine), the Senior Home Editor & Deputy Home Editor at Martha Stewart Living and the Online Product Manager for, I got the best design education a girl could ask for. Most importantly, I learned that people really want their home dilemmas solved and I have a knack for finding solutions that are both stylish and practical.

In 2009, I got married, bought a house in the Connecticut burbs and tried to find a way to feel happier, healthier and live without the hour long commute to NYC. I wanted to create my own schedule, feel creative and welcome a baby to our new home. And so Alexis Givens Interiors was born and in 2011 so was my amazing daughter.

Dear Design Diary will be an attempt to document my life as I hunt for gorgeous/interesting/useful/intriguing stuff to fill my home and the homes of my clients. I hope you'll join me.
