IN THE STUDIO: WALLPAPERS THAT POP

Sometimes, a peppy wallpaper in the perfect color is just what a nondescript room needs. Like most design offices, we've got stacks and stacks of papers that yearn to be sorted, viewed, and ordered. Today, we hunted for some options to show a client for her guest room. Often, rooms that don't get much light, have strange proportions, or are in need of an instant fix can be completely transformed by the perfect wallpaper. Once you've made a statement with a patterned wall, everything else can fall into place very easily. Plain white bedding, a mismatched chair recycled from another room, some great lamps, and "voila," your room is done! The wallpaper takes center stage and becomes the focal point of the entire space.

In this particular client's home, there is an attic guest bedroom that needs some love. Small windows on each end, a pitched ceiling, and the allure of an attic hideaway make it the perfect patterned wallpaper candidate. Making this space sing with pattern and color is a no-fail way to give the room a personality of its own. And because it's a guest space, we're hoping our clients will take the leap and go a little crazier than they would in a family bedroom. It's fun to make a guest room a tad more over the top so visitors feel like they're vacationing at a chic hotel or a relaxing (and impeccably designed) resort.  Here are a few we pulled out that could really transform the space:

Top row from left to right: Cloth & Paper Persia Wallpaper in New Blue, Galbraith & Paul, Diamond Wallpaper in Frost, Thibaut Bari Ikat Paper in Blue.

Bottom row from left to right: Hinson & Company Fireworks Wallpaper in Yellow, Alan Campbell Interweave Wallpaper in Light Pink, Osborne & Littl

Feel free to contact us for more information about ordering any of these wallpapers for your own home; we'd love to help!
